Volunteering

TaB Centre Plus works with volunteers because we believe that, by developing individual and community potential, we can make a difference. There is a small staff team. Most people – including trustees - give their time and expertise as volunteers.

Our volunteers include a Finance Officer, Bookkeeper, Website coordinators, Coffee Bar caterers and General Maintenance volunteers. We are now looking for Sound Technicians, Climbing Wall instructors, Sports facilitators, Drama and music facilitators, chefs, teachers for our Saturday morning supplementary school, classroom assistants and Children's Centre assistants. Can you help?

Why volunteer?

It’s a two-way process for all of us. Whether you want to keep up your skills between jobs, improve your spoken English, add skills and experience to your CV, make new friends, or put something back into the community, volunteering at TaB Centre Plus is about making a difference – for you, the community and the community centre itself.

As a volunteer you will be looked after by the Volunteer Coordinator and a small staff team, as well as other volunteers who’ve been here longer and learnt what's what.

You won’t be out of pocket, as we will reimburse you for travel and provide expenses towards your lunch.

Current vacancies:

Sound Technicians (lead and assistant)

We have a newly completed sound recording studio and are looking for sound technicians to form a bank of volunteers to help artists and groups. TaB Centre Plus provides rehearsal, recording , mixing and editing facilities and production of a master demo. A CRB check is required for this role.

Climbing Wall instructors

We have a great new climbing wall, too, and are looking to provide frequent sessions. If you are already qualified to supervise a climbing wall, or are interested in receiving training (condition of receiving training is a commitment to 100 hours of volunteering), please get in touch. A CRB check is required for this role.

Gardeners

Gardeners are needed to tidy and nurture the garden. You need to be able to identify grass and dandelions that are growing faster than the spring bulbs that are popping up! The garden runs alongside the North Circular Road with the new cycling path. We'd like to work on the garden to improve the environment beside the new road layout. Tools and gloves are provided. Receptionist

We have two reception areas that need to be covered from 9am-9pm Monday-Saturday. If you would like to develop customer service skills and learn how to use the Gladstone Management System, this is an opportunity for you. We need to cover evenings especially!

Classroom Assistant

This role assists teachers in the supplementary school we are beginning. Do you want to develop new skills or gain experience? A CRB check is required for this role.

Teachers (English and/or Maths and/or Science)

We are beginning a supplementary school on Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm. We'll be supporting young people aged 6-16 with extra tuition in key subjects. Can you help?

Children's Centre Assistant

Our Children's Centre is open from Monday morning until Saturday lunchtime. The centre supports children from 0-5 and their families. Would you like to practise your childcare skills or learn new skills? A CRB check is required for this role.

Chef/Cook

If you are a cook or chef, we would like to hear from you! We would like to extend the range of what we can offer as light lunches from the coffee bar.
